There are two categories of winners:
1. The three resolutionaries with the most points will equally divide 80% of the cash in the Challenge Fund. For example, if there is $500 in the kitty, $400 will be allocated amongst the three players with the most points.
2. All participants with more than 505 points, or 60% of the available points. Because the Resolutionary Challenge is partly about getting the most points, but mostly about process, any person who gets an average of 6 points or better per day, will have won, and will be eligible for a random giveaway which will be funded by the remaining 20% in the Challenge Fund.

Monday, March 10
#2 - Not getting new running shoes.
#3 - OVER training.
#4 - Getting chubby (over eating)
#5 - Not switching to the 5 mile when checking in. (Although if I had done it I would have regretted it)
#6 - Not charging my IPod - which conveniently died before we even started the race! -That was almost reason enough not to start!
#7 - Not taking care of my I-T band (between your quad and hamstring on the outside of the thigh) - They get tight and strain/pull on your knees.
This is me SO happy to be done with the wretched race!
I'm finally able to bend my knees today and walk somewhat normally! :) I can't say I will sign up for another one any time soon!

I am starting THE ARTIST'S WAY again - this time my sisters and mom are on board (right guys?) It will be fun to check up on each other. I posted about it once before - you can read it here.
Monday, September 10
All loaded up, ready to go! YIPEE!!!
Welcome to Ouray, Co - what a cute little town!
At the start line! It was a BEAUTIFUL morning!
This is what Jess got to deal with while I ran up a mountain...who do you think had it easier? I'd say it's a toss up!! :) What a sport - I really am so greatful for his support!
And we're off!
Running and taking a picture at the same time! :)
It was SO beautiful!
A lady was nice enough to offer to take a picture - so many fun people to chat with along the way!
There was a river at the base of this cliff! -This is where we went ice climbing one year...
Looking back
It was so great running into people I knew! A contractor I used to work with took this picture - we hiked for awhile but he was killing me! This was around mile 5 or so...
Going up...
This was coming up on an aid station around 7.5 miles or so...
Feeling good!
This is when the real fun began - after mile 8
oh man, this guy was great! He is 60 something. We started chatting and he suggested we better pick up the pace -because if we could carry on a conversation then we obviously weren't working hard enough!
The view looking back
Looking ahead
Sucking wind. My hip flexors were screaming at me to stop. No such luck. This was probably a mile or so from the summit
Almost there!
The summit!! 13,114 ft. WOOHOO! It was clear and sunny and around 50 degrees - practically UNHEARD of weather. They have you carry gloves, a hat and jacket because I guess it's usually pretty nasty weather. (I left my jacket w/ Jess at the bottom)
The view on Ouray side - can you see all the people coming up?
The aid station at top. After grabbing some ibuprofin, water, gatorade, a handful of peanut m&m's and some orange slices I was on my way!
Starting my descent! The first mile or two was super steep. I was very cautious. Steep grades and fatigued bodies =Lot's o' people falling... luckily I wasn't one of them!
The view
It was pretty rocky the majority of the 7 miles down - kinda annoying after a couple miles!!!
Nearing another aid station - pretty sure there was about 5 miles left! I was getting excited -and happy to be feeling good!
Now that's a look of determination! too funny!
Getting closer to town!!
Very happy for some smooth road!
SO much fun to see the cute town of Telluride! Almost there!
Right after ending my race. Ahhh. It feels good!!
It was great to see the boys and Jess!!
It was such a fun race and great experience! I was really happy with how I did considering the lack of training! (Why was I so nervous?? I suppose I was expecting much worse) It makes me want to do it next year and kill it. Anyone want in?? :)
In our room, ready for a nice soak in the tub and some R&R. Jess had booked me a massage for later that afternoon. It was lovely. But I could really use another one! :)
Monday, April 23

This has been something I've wanted to do for several years now: The Imogene Pass Run. It's a 17.1 mile point-to-point mountain race within the western San Juan mountains of Colorado, along a route which connects the towns of Ouray (7810 ft.) and Telluride (8820 ft.) It's held every year in September, the first Saturday after Labor Day. LOTS of people from Flagstaff participate and I've always wanted to be one of them, however I've kinda been pregnant for the last 4 years! :) So this is my year!! Registration is in June and it fills up quickly (I think they allow something like 1,400 participants) I am excited to register and also a little hesitant. "Who am I kidding, it's 10 miles up hill." (I think of this constantly whenever I'm running a hill here) But I saw a girl at the club (that's what we call the gym here) who is also training for it and I got a lot of good advice and it really made me excited about doing this and training! Plus, I love Ouray and I love Telluride, so why not!? I also really like the idea of pushing myself and seeing how I do. So we'll see, I still have to figure out the logistics because Jess could be going back east at the exact time, but it will all work out! The countdown is on! :)
